Mipham Rinpoche gave a teaching, July 2005 As promised, Mipham Rinpoche gave a teaching he had composed for this occasion. Rinpoche initially stressed the importance of improving our awareness of the others. It is this awareness which allows our basic goodness to flourish. However, our loving kindness and compassion should not be limited to our fellow beings but be extended to our environment. Preserving nature, protecting it from further pollution and degradation, Rinpoche explained, is the expression of a mind endowed with ethical behaviour. Keeping an ethical discipline will be a guarantee against catastrophes of all kinds. Then Rinpoche went on to expose in great detail the meaning of right ethical conduct by explaining with numerous examples what we mean by harmful and by wholesome actions. At the end of the teachings, Rinpoche implored the audience to put these instructions into practice, as they are the cause of authentic happiness and well being for everybody.
