August, 2005 Jigme Rinpoche transmits the bodhisattva vows at Dhagpo Kagyu Ling On Thursday, August 11, more than two hundred people came to take or renew their commitment on the Bodhisattva path. Rinpoche reminded everyone of the necessity to take responsibility for themselves, and to be thoroughly involved on the spiritual path, with the support of the sangha, the spiritual community, and the inspiration of the masters of the past. The twelve links of dependent origination taught by Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche Saturday and Sunday mornings, the audience listened to a concise explanation on dependent origination, one of the fundamental themes of Buddhist philosophy, given by the scholar and meditation master Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche. The historical Budhha Shakyamuni gave his very first teaching in Sarnath on the subject of the Four Noble Truths. The two first truths are about suffering and its origin. In order to apprehend the subtleties of an ordinary mind's functioning, which lead to the endless perpetuation of suffering, Buddha Shakyamuni explained the twelve links of dependent origination, starting with fundamental ignorance through the creation of karma which leads to rebirth and inevitably to old age and death. This teaching by Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche served as a reminder of the importance of studies - the basis of all Dharma practice. Rinpoche's clear explanations were a further step towards a clearer understanding of the samsaric nature of perceiving and functioning. Rinpoche had great impact on the audience through the power of his blessing, his erudition, and his simplicity. We are happy to announce that further teachings will be offered on the meaning of tantras by Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche from August 23 to 26 at Dhagpo Kagyu Ling.
